A Comparative study of the factors of women`s quality of Life by generation-babyboom, X and pre-older adults

Abstract
This study uses the first year women¡¯s panel data of Korean Women¡¯ Department Institute. This study compares and analyzes the factors of women¡¯s quality of life by generation-babyboom, X and pre-older adults. The sample size of babyboomer is 2108, X generation is 3921 and pre-older generation is 2301. As factors of the quality of women¡¯s life, health, education, job, the satisfaction of job, social activities such as leisure, fellowship and volunteering were used. Also, the family life such as the division of labor, the satisfaction of division of labor and marital satisfaction were included. The quality of life of future such as worries about one¡¯s old age and the preparation of one¡¯s old age were used. For the comparison of the generation difference, ANOVA and ANCOVA were used. According to the research results, health differs by generation. Also, the social activities differ by generation. For babyboomers, volunteering was the highest and for X generations, activities for hobby were the highest, and the volunteering was the lowest. The burden and time of house chores were the highest for X generation. For babyboomers, the job ratio is higher than that of X generation but the ratio of laborer is higher than for that of X generation. For the worries of one¡¯s old age, economic status and health were the highest. For X generation, the worries of economic status was the highest. The age was used as covariate to control the age effect. When using ANCOVA, there were generation differences of learning and individual development. For babyboomers, the burden of house chores, marital satisfaction were higher than those of pre-old generation but the time of house chores was lower than that of pre-old generation. For pre-old generation, their job abilities were higher
than their degree of education and the job activities.
